Let’s keep it simple… if you are thinking of going bright and bold with a fantasy color,  there’s some important facts you should consider before you set your heart on a color.

Let’s Dive right in! I won’t bore you with the details on how the color wheel works,  your stylist went to school for that.  However, you do need to understand these simple details with regards to which color would actually take successfully. Second, which color will match your skin tone and your lifestyle. And lastly, but most importantly, maintaining your hair’s integrity and the  vibrancy of the color.

So, I’m going to assume your next question would be, how can you determine what your hair’s natural undertones are. The easiest way would be to go outside with a mirror and look at the very top of your head. Because this area is the newest to be born out of your head, it will carry more of your natural tones then those of your ends simply because your end have been exposed to the sun and the environment longer.

If you determine your hair has deep red or orange undertones, it would be safest and  more accurate to choose a fantasy color that sits on the warm side of the color wheel. These colors would be Pink, Red, Purple, Orange, Peach, Yellow, Burgundy etc.  Those with warm undertones usually have skin that is golden, brown, Red- brown,  yellow- brown, pink, or Orange as well.

If you see ash undertones, your hair will be easier and safer to lift to a pale blonde which would receive the fantasy colors blue, green, and pale yellow.

Regardless of the color you choice to wear, it’s important to take into consideration your lifestyle and place of employment. If you work in a professional office where customers or clients are judging your appearance for professional advise or services, dying your hair a fantasy color might not be received well. Is suggest you a color that’s not so offensive like red or Burgundy or if that’s not would you’re interested in, consider placing the color where it can be seen only when you want it to show like underneath in the back or highlighted sparingly throughout your natural hair color.

Now, if your occupation is in the beauty industry or any artistic capacity, feel free to express yourself by choosing any color on the rainbow or all of them at once. Either way, always consider the integrity of your hair so you’re not left with a head full of colorful damage hair.

Consult with a professional before deciding on which color is best for you. Have fun with it and enjoy the attention you will get from those who appreciate your individuality.
